The controversial home information packs could be delayed following the turmoil in the financial and property markets. Sunday Telegraph

Housing minister Iain Wright said that HIPs would be assessed before completing the roll-out to one- and two-bedroom properties, especially as the credit crunch hits the economy.

There is growing concern that the scheme, which costs £400 for each pack, could have a far greater effect on the lower end of the market.

HIPs became mandatory when selling four-bedroom homes in August and on three-bedroom properties in September.
