The usually buoyant data centre market has finally been affected by the credit crunch, finds CB Richard Ellis’ latest report on the sector.

Its review of the European data centre market’s second quarter found that data centre expansions across the European landscape have been ‘limited’ and that European developers and investors have ‘been quiet’ over the summer quarter, with just a couple of notable exceptions.

Nevertheless, it also found that total market take-up had increased by 144% on the first quarter and subsequently predicts that IT spending worldwide ‘should hold up’.
