Developer Centros has handed over the anchor store to Debenhams to fit out at its £105m Arc scheme in Bury St Edmunds.

The 85,000 sq ft store, designed by Hopkins Architects, is in the shape of a clamshell and will open in Spring next year.

It will anchor the 265,000 sq ft scheme which also includes 35 other shops, cafes and restaurants arranged around a public square and two new open shopping streets linking with the existing Town Centre.

The scheme also includes 850 car parking spaces, 62 apartments and a multi-purpose public venue.

David Lewis, associate director at the Delancey-backed developer Centros, said: ‘This building will be a key component in establishing both arc and Bury St Edmunds as an important shopping destination...What is also very encouraging is that despite market conditions, the scheme is letting very well.’

Other tenants at the scheme include H&M, New Look, Next, TopShop, River Island, Monsoon/Accessorize, Wallis, HMV, Costa, Vodafone and Waterstones.

Jones Lang LaSalle, Mason & Partners and Knight Frank are joint letting agents.
