Developers Lindum Group and MF Strawson have been selected as the preferred developer for the Cartergate site in Grimsby Town Centre.

The joint venture – known as The Cartergate Quarter – were selected by North East Lincolnshire Council to develop the 1.5 acre site and plan to create a mixed-used scheme with 30,000 sq ft of offices pace, a 70-bed hotel, a 17,500 sq ft health and fitness suite as well as retail and residential space.

Funding for initial enabling works is being provided by Regional Development Agency Yorkshire Forward. It will also fund an archaeological survey of the site area, demolition of the existing buildings and improvements to the public realm next to the adjoining underpass.

The development is likely to cost more than £12m to build.
