Edinburgh-based Flexistore, the self storage business, has appointed Doherty Baines to buy up to 30 new sites.

Flexistore, backed by Kenmore which has a 50% stake in the business, plans to open offices across the UK and has secured a 4,958 sq ft unit in Wembley at Kilmartin Property Group’s 400 NCR.

15 years
It has taken a 15 year lease at the office which will be its second London site. Its first London deal was a 30,000 sq ft building in Edmonton, north London.

Flexistore business model includes sending a trailer with a storage vault inside to the customer’s home or office to be filled with goods which are then taken to a warehouse to be stored.

Six locations
Flexistore plans to grow from its existing six locations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Aberdeen and London over the next five years.

Doherty Baines advised on both its London deals and has been retained.

David O’Donovan, head of industrial at Doherty Baines said: ‘Flexistore’s unique operating model means we don’t need high profile sites sought by rivals. We can thus be more selective and deliver more cost effective locations.’
