Plans for a retail scheme that will form the centre of Dublin’s largest new town Adamstown were unveiled yesterday at the BCSC conference in Gateshead.

Castlethorn Constructions’ Adamstown Central is a 650,000 sq ft shopping centre that will form the centrepiece of the 10,000 home Adamstown residential scheme that is currently under construction on a greenfield site west of Dublin city centre.

Irish retail boom

The shopping centre will provide 60 retail units, a leisure centre; a nine screen cinema; restaurants and cafes and will open in late 2010.

Castlethorn Construction, headed by developer Joe O’Reilly is best known as the developer of Dublin’s massive Dundrum Town Centre.

Paul Stenson, commercial property manager at Castlethorn said: ‘The Adamstown development reflects the future of modern living in Dublin…Adamstown Central is an attractive retail location which will provide a catchment of over 360,000 people within the eventual Adamstown population and a 15 minute drive time which will create an average €598m available spending annually.’

Joint agents for the scheme are CBRE and Savills Hamilton Osborne King.
