The property industry was well represented in the new year honours list with particular recognition for services to regeneration and sustainable development

Rangers Football Club chairman and property investor David Murray was awarded a knighthood for his role in business in Scotland.

Roger Madelin, chief executive of Argent, was handed a CBE for his services to sustainable development.

Professor David Lock, chairman of the Town and Country Planning Association and founder of consultant David Lock Associates, was given a CBE for his role in furthering urban design.

Stanhope director Peter Rogers was recognised with a CBE for his services to the construction industry.

Rupert Nabarro, co-founder of Investment Property Databank, was given an OBE for services to the property industry.

There were two OBEs handed out for services to regeneration: one to Kyle Alexander, chief executive of Belfast-based Laganside Corporation, for his work in Northern Ireland, and the other to James Gill, chief executive of regeneration agency Liverpool Vision.

Sue Foster, assistant director, regeneration and planning, London Borough of Hackney, was recognised with an OBE for her services to planning.
