Residents who had been evicted from the Satwa and Al Wasl neighbourhoods near Sheikh Zayed Road to make way for the multibillion-dollar Jumeira Gardens project have been allowed to return, according to residents and property agents in the area.
The Dh350bn (US$95.29bn) project by Meraas Development was announced at Cityscape Dubai in October.
The plan was to take over the Satwa and Al Wasl areas and build a vast luxury development with canals, islands off the coast and as many as five high-rise towers.
But in the light of the worsening global financial situation, Jumeira Gardens was one of several Dubai property projects that was put under review.
