SIG, the insulation and office fit-out company, has recorded interim sales of over £1bn for the first time. The Daily Telegraph. The Times. Financial Times
It warned that like-for-like growth would slow in the second half, predicted that underlying demand would remain strong.
Chief executive David Williams said: ‘Like-for-like sales were 12.5% up in the first half, reflecting favourable comparables following a strong cocktail of positive factors.
‘We’ve outperformed the market quite significantly,’ he said. ‘I would single out insulation as being a very important contributor to the group’s performance in every area in which we trade.’
The company has benefited from the government’s Building Schools for the Future programme and a booming office market.
But Williams said of the coming year: ‘Our concerns are about macroeconomic factors and whether the uncertainties in financial markets do or do not spill over into the wider economy.’
