Forth Properties has submitted a planning application for Pier One, a new, 5,000 square metre commercial development at Leith Docks.

The application, put forward to the City of Edinburgh Council, contains plans for an office building designed to high sustainability standards, at Edinburgh waterfront. However, the building will not only be used for commercial offices. At ground level, there is provision for both a café and restaurant, combined with accommodation for financial or professional services. If the planning application is granted, it will be Forth Port’s first commercial development for five years, the last being the Ocean Terminal shopping centre.

Nathan Thompson, managing director at Forth Properties Ltd said: ‘This project is another example of Forth Ports creating a development opportunity that will deliver a long term economic benefit to Leith and the city of Edinburgh.

‘We are proud of our commitment to the regeneration of Edinburgh’s waterfront in which we have invested over £150 million over the past 12 years.’

Cameron Stott, a director at Jones Lang LaSalle added: ‘The Pier One development will offer modern and flexible office space within an are that offers potential cost benefits for prospective tenants.’
