Prupim’s plans for Green Park station, the first privately financed and new build station in the UK for 50 years, got the go-ahead this week from the local council.
Reading Borough Council called it a good news story for Reading, granting planning permission on 5 December.
The station, which will serve the business park of the same name, will also enable better accessibility for Reading football club’s Madjeski stadium and South Reading residents.
Green Park Village
It will also serve the residents of the planned Green Park village, the St Edwards Homes development which is a joint venture between Prupim and the Berkeley Group. The proposals for the 60-acre village are currently awaiting planning permission.
Prupim also needs West Berkshire Council to signal its approval for Green Park station before commencing construction.
Tim Davis, development director at Prupim, said the group was delighted with the decision, and would continue to work to obtain all the approvals needed for the redevelopments at Green Park.
Drivers Jonas acted as planning consultants for Prupim.
