Garden Park Investments, the Mayfair-based garden centre property company, has secured Van Hage as the anchor tenant for its Peterborough Garden park scheme.

Van Hage, which has two stores in Hertfordshire, has agreed a 25-year lease of 50,000 sq ft of retail space and an 80,000 sq ft external sales area.

Work started this week on the garden centre, which totals 89,000 sq ft of shops ranging in size from, 1,200 sq ft to 7,200 sq ft.

The scheme, at the junction of Peterborough’s ring road with the A47, has been designed by architect Lyons+Sleeman+Hoare.

Construction is expected to be completed in summer next year with the centre opening in Autumn.
