John Gellatly, one of the leading campaigners for real estate investment trusts, is leaving Credit Suisse First Boston to join Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

He has been appointed head of indirect property investment and strategy and will manage MLIM’s UK property fund-of-funds product. He will also contribute to the strategic development of MLIM’s real estate business, the major part of which is the £1.3bn ML Property Fund, and the creation of a range of new investment products.

Gellatly has wide experience in property fund management, equity research and investment banking, most recently at CSFB, where he was a director of real estate investment banking.

Previously, as a property equities analyst, he was joint founder of the property equities team at CSFB.
