Glenkerrin has been granted planning consent for a £500m redevelopment in Ealing town centre.

Ealing Arcadia, formerly known as the Ealing Leaf and nicknamed the Penny Whistle, was granted consent this week.

The original designs for a 704-apartment tower over 26 storeys were scaled back to 567 apartments and 24 storeys.

Local group Saving Ealing’s Centre were opposed to both the old and revised plans.

The scheme will also include 200,000 sq ft of shops at the 4.2-acre site which covers Ealing train and tube station. It is also one of the proposed Crossrail stations.

The scheme was masterplanned by HKR Architects and the tower was designed by Foster & Partners.
