Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Hazel Blears has called in Glenkerrin’s plans for a £500m development in Ealing, West London.

Blears will hold an inquiry into Glenkerrin’s plans for the site, which include a 24-storey tower comprising 577 apartments as well as retail and office space and redeveloping Ealing Broadway tube station.

Glenkerrin got the Green light from Mayor Boris Johnson and Ealing Council for the £500m Ealing Arcadia plans last month after scaling down the size of the development on the 4.2 acre site, but Blears’ move will lead to another delay for the scheme.

Glenkerrin originally planned a larger tower known as the Ealing Leaf but revised its plans following objections from the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, local opposition group Save Ealing Centre, and Ealing Council itself.

GVA Grimley is planning consultant to Glenkerrin.
