Gordon’s £1bn spending plans

A 371,000 sq ft (34,470 sq m) extension of the MetroCentre in Gateshead, costing £85m, is on target to open this autumn. The MetroCentre will be the largest shopping centre in Europe at 1.8m sq ft (167,220 sq m).
