Carol Sweetenham, a key civil servant at the Department for Communities and Local Government, will speak at Property Week's online seminar on Energy Performance Certificates on Tuesday 13 November from 12pm.

From April 2008 all commercial buildings of more than 500 sq m will need a certificate whenever they are sold, let or refurbished.

Sweetenham has a key role in implementing the policy and will answer questions such as how the system will work and whether there will be enough inspectors to meet demand.

She is deputy director of the Energy Performance Building Division at Communities and Local Government.

Also speaking are Martin Stephens, environment director at Prupim, the first major landlord to have appointed assessors to provide certificates for its whole portfolio, and Chris Stubbs, managing director of WSP Energy, who has managed efficiency programmes for a range of multi national clients.
