The Government is reportedly planning to delay the implementation of energy performance certificates until September, amid concerns that there are too few qualified assessors.

Reports in the national press sugggest the postponement is on the cards in a bid to avoid the type of controversy that dogged the introduction of Home Information Packs.

The Department for Communities and Local Government is to give a six-month grace period to landlords whose property is already on the market when EPCs are introduced next month.

The certificates were to be introduced from 6 April.
