Listed residential property owner Grainger has appointed Peter Brock as managing director of Grainger Deutschland - its German advisory business.

Brock joins from listed German real estate company Vivacon where he was head of asset management and was responsible for developing a management platform for residential property investors in Germany.

He was also responsible for the creation and marketing of investment funds investing in German residential real estate.

Brock has also previously worked in a range of banking and property roles in both the UK and Germany including as managing director at investment banks Lazard and Rothschild in Germany and working for Terra Firma, where he led the team working primarily on German real estate transactions.

Grainger Deutschland has expanded significantly in Germany through the acquisition of listed residential property company FranconoRheinMain earlier this year in a €46m (£36m) transaction.

Since Grainger first entered the German market in 2005 it has built up an interest in 6,900 units with a market value of around €500m (£392m).

Rupert Dickinson, chief executive at Grainger, said: ‘We look forward to benefiting from Peter’s experience and expertise as we continue to explore ways of replicating our UK success by creating a residential co-investment fund management business investing in the German market.'

Brock said: ‘With a portfolio of nearly 7,000 units, Grainger is now achieving critical mass in this exciting market. The sector is maturing and Grainger is well-placed to exploit its expanded portfolio.’
