Middlesbrough Council has given the green light for BioRegional Quintain’s £200m redevelopment of Middlehaven.
Developer BioRegional Quintain and urban regeneration company Tees Valley Regeneration are planning the UK’s biggest zero carbon scheme: a 1m sq ft (93,000 sq m) mixed use development designed by Will Alsop.
The outline planning consent gives details of the public areas, including retail and leisure pavilions, and improved links to Middlesbrough Town Centre.
Pete Halsall, managing director of BioRegional Quintain said: ‘Our next move will be to submit detailed planning applications for the first two buildings – and it won’t be too long before we are able to offer people the chance to be among the first to live at Middlehaven.’
