Yorkshire developer Lazarus Properties has got the go ahead for a £30m urban village centred around a 10th century church in South Yorkshire.

Urban i, an arm of Lazarus, will now build 114 new homes as well as a village green, offices, shops and a community centre in Kirk Sandall.

The site, on brownfield land, got the go ahead from Doncaster Council last night.

Darryl Barker, director of Urban i, said: ‘Urban i is a Doncaster company and we try to use local contractors wherever possible.

'This project again emphasises our belief in the future of Doncaster and the surrounding area.'

Self Architects designed the scheme next to the River Don Navigation canal after considering a flood risk assessment and the Grade II listed church, which will be a centrepoint of the scheme.
