UK Coal has been given planning permission for a large mixed-use commercial scheme at its business park at Waverley, South Yorkshire.

The listed company announced today, that it been granted permission by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to develop approximately 650,000 sq ft (60,386 sq m) of mixed office, industrial, hotel, leisure and retail space at the 60-acre ( 24ha) site.

In addition, UK Coal also announced today, that it would submit a planning application for the redevelopment of its Prince of Wales site at Pontefract in West Yorkshire, to Wakefield Metropolitan Borough Council, next week.

The application will be for more than 900 homes and 250,000 sq ft (23,225 sq m) of employment space. Planning approval is anticipated in the second quarter of 2007.
