Abu Dhabi will build a new motorway to the Dubai border and several bridges and tunnels to Lulu Island in the next five years, as part of a Dh50 billion (US$13.61bn) transport upgrade, an official said.

The projects, part of the emirate’s 2030 plan, are drawing the world’s experts on bridge, motorway and rail design to the capital as the global crisis forces other nations to delay spending on infrastructure.
