Habitat, the furniture retailer, will open stores in Russia and the Middle East with international franchise partners in 2009.

It has agreed deals with two retail partners to roll out Habitat concept stores of between 1,400-1,600 sq ft in Russia and Dubai.

In Russia it plans to open its first in Moscow followed by St Petersburg next year.

In the Middle East it plans to open a number of stores within the next few years with its first store in Dubai to open by September next year. It also plans stores in Abu Dhabi.

Mauricio Solodujin, Habitat’s business development manager, said: ‘Habitat will continue to develop Habitat as a global player within the retail market, focusing on long term commitment with its partners.’
