Hamleys, the toy shop owned by Baugur, is to open its first stand-alone European store in Dundrum town centre, Ireland.

It is Hamleys first European stand alone store after its famous flagship shop in London’s Regent Street and the signing is a coup for Dundrum, a 850,000 sq ft shopping centre, south of Dublin City Centre.

Hamleys Dundrum is scheduled to open in October 2008 and will occupy 37,000 sq ft over three floors. It will anchor the Pembroke Avenue area of the scheme.

Paul Currie, Hamleys trading director, says: ‘This is our first stand-alone store outside Regent Street and continues our programme of global expansion. A considerable portion of our overseas customers are Irish and we are looking forward to growing this customer base.’

Bannons acted for the landlord and Churston Heard represented Hamleys.
