Hammerson has revived plans for a huge development in Birmingham, as it sets out its strategy following the collapse of its £3.4bn takeover of intu.

The property development and investment company hopes to bring forward a masterplan for the 6.5-acre Martineau Galleries site on Dale End, a prime location between the proposed Curzon Street HS2 station and Colmore Row business district, later this year.

The site has the potential to accommodate a mixed-use scheme larger than Birmingham shopping centre the Bullring, which Hammerson also owns.
