Hammerson announced today that year-on-year like-for-like footfall was up across its shopping centre portfolio over the Christmas trading period.

It said around 1.5 million consumers had visited Hammerson’s shopping centres around the country to make the most of the Christmas sales.

And more than 420,000 people visited Bullring in Birmingham on the first two days of the post Christmas sales.

In Reading, the Oracle had its busiest day of the year on the 27th, with over 99,000 shoppers visiting the centre, with Boxing Day footfall up 10% on the previous year.

WestQuay Shopping Centre in Southampton and Queensgate in Peterborough delivered Boxing Day footfall figures, up by 37% and 39% on the previous year respectively.
