The property vehicle of Matalan founder John Hargreaves, Maro Developments, have submitted plans for a new £100m residential-led, mixed-use development scheme on an island site close to Liverpool marina.
The plans for a new dock and riverside residencies located between the southern edge of Brunswick Dock and the sea lock on Liverpool waterfront, comprise a total of 552 homes consisting of a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and duplex units.
The maritime-themed development, designed by Fletcher Rae, will contain four separate buildings ranging from 7-12 storeys and totalling more than 500,000 sq ft linked by landscaped garden piazzas, set above enclosed car parking.
Andrew Rae, co-founder of Fletcher-Rae, said: “A key design emphasis is the integration of the scheme with its waterfront setting offering a better opportunity for the public to gain access to the site and for the site to provide improved amenities for the users of the River Mersey frontage, the Marina and future proposed waterway transportation within the dock system. A great deal of work has gone into preserving the setting of the Anglican Cathedral when viewed from across the river and the World Heritage Site status of the Liverpool waterfront whilst also linking to nearby residential, commercial and cultural areas.”
