London mayor Ken Livingstone and Hillingdon council yesterday approved plans for the £1·5bn Heathrow East terminal at Heathrow airport. Daily Telegraph
The new terminal will replace the existing Terminals 1 and 2, and the first phase is expected to be completed in time for the London Olympics in 2012.
It is part of a £6·2bn, 10-year investment programme to transform the airport and includes the opening of Terminal 5 in March 2008.
