Helical Bar and Urban Renaissance Villages have secured planning permission for a 101-homes retirement village in Cambridgeshire.

The joint venture partners were given permission by South Cambridgeshire District Council for the development on a redundant employment site in the Green Belt at Milton.

The Government Office for the East of England has confirmed it will not call in the application.

Helical Bar and Urban Renaissance Villages will develop a mixture of two-bedroom apartments and cottages at the site.

A new clubhouse and recreational facilities will also be developed and a listed building on the site will be restored.

The plans also involve restoring grounds designed by renowned 18th century landscape gardener Humphrey Repton.

Helical Bar and Urban Renaissance Villages said they are planning to pursue securing a detailed planning consent immediately
