NBTY Europe, the parent company of health food chain Holland & Barrett, has bought rival chain Julian Graves from Icelandic retail investor Baugur.
Holland & Barrett has 544 stores in the UK and Ireland, 31 GNC stores in the UK and 71 De Tuinen stores in the Netherlands.
The acquisition of Julian Graves adds a store network of more than 345 outlets nationwide specialising in natural food and health products, taking the group chain up to just under 1,000 stores.
Peter Aldis, managing director of Holland & Barrett, said: ‘The acquisition delivers synergies to the Holland & Barrett group. This will now give us more opportunities to achieve our expansion plans within the UK & Europe.’
