Huawei lands site for Cambridge R&D base

Chinese firm at centre of espionage controversy buys land for R&D campus.

The tech company bought the site in Sawston in an off-market deal from US biotechnology firm Northwest Biotherapeutics (NWBio) for £37.5m.

As part of the deal, NWBio leased back an 87,000 sq ft manufacturing facility on a 20-year lease and retained ownership of 17 acres of land.
