International hotel developer IFA Hotels has teamed up with Indian Ocean Resorts to develop a luxury marina resort on the Sainte Anne island of the Seychelles.

The development, to be called Zilwa, will include a hotel, a large residential element and a village-style marina. It is expected to have an end value of $450m (£221m).

The Seychelles islands are 1,600km east of Kenya. The island of Sainte Anne is a ten minute boat ride or five minute helicopter ride from the Seychelles main island of Mahe.

Werner Burger, president and chief operating officer at IFA, which is listed on the Johannesburg and Kuwait stock exchanges, said: ‘Zilwa is the perfect addition to our portfolio. This follows our set strategy of expanding and linking our integrated resorts in Africa and the Indian Ocean region.’
