Investment Association splits property fund definition

Galina Dimitrova director of investment and capital markets at the IA

The Investment Association has split its definition of property sector funds into two – ‘UK direct property’ and ‘property other’.

The funds in the UK direct property sector will invest at least 70% of their assets directly in UK property over five-year rolling property. Funds in the property other sector will not meet this requirement but will invest in other property related-assets such as property securities or other funds.
