Overall returns from commercial property in Ireland showed steady growth in the third quarter reported Jones Lang LaSalle today.

In its Irish Property Index it said there was a 2.9% rise in overall returns in the last three months and a 14% rise in the year to the end of September.

It said that overall capital values had increased by 1.9% in the quarter and by 5.5% since the beginning of the year.

The industrial sector had the highest quarterly capital value increase of 2.3% and an increase of 11.3% since January.

Retail
The capital value rise of the retail sector marginally lagged behind the industrial sector with a 2.1% increase while capital values in the office sector increased by 1.7% for the same period.

In the nine months since the start of the year to September the retail and office sectors had capital value growth of 4.9% and 6.0% respectively.
