ITV has pulled out of plans to relocate to Peel Holding’s 7m sq ft MediaCity claiming that the developer cut the amount of money it was going to spend on ITV’s space.

The television channel has been in negotiations with Peel for two years for up to 350,000 sq ft relocation to the development in Salford Quays.

But today an ITV spokesman said: ‘Negotiations with the Peel Group over the possible move of ITV's Manchester operation to MediaCity in Salford were terminated by ITV this week after the developer dramatically scaled back its financial commitment to the ITV element of the project.

‘As a result we will remain at our Quay Street base for the foreseeable future.’

So far the BBC has agreed to move to 330,000 sq ft of space at MediaCity and Peel is developing a 100,000 sq ft higher education centre for the University of Salford.
