Sports retailer JJB Sports has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator for its Original Shoe Company and Qube footwear brands following the failure to sell the businesses.
Original Shoe Company has 64 stores and Qube has 13 stores.
JJB said it had ‘for some months been reviewing its options in respect of the future of the division and a preliminary approach for the division did not result in a transaction.’
It said the division continues to trade at a substantial loss and the directors of OSC and Qube have decided to file a notice of intention to appoint administrators from KPMG.
The board of JJB said it remains hopeful that a third party may become interested in acquiring the businesses.
