The Office of Fair Trading has fined six recruitment companies a total £39.27m for price-fixing and for boycotting another company that supplies employees to the construction industry.
The OFT concluded that the companies had breached the Competition Act in fixing target fee rates for the supply of candidates to certain construction businesses and in agreeing to boycott all contracts with intermediary company, Parc UK.
The companies which breached the regulations were A Warwick Associates, Beresford Blake Thomas, CDI AndersElite, Eden Brown, Fusion People, Hays Specialist Recruitment, Henry Recruitment and Hill McGlynn & Associates.
They were found to have created a cartel known as the Construction Recruitment Forum, which met five times between 2004 and 2006.
