South Korea’s National Pension Service, the nation’s biggest investor, may buy Berlin’s Sony Center from a Morgan Stanley real-estate fund for about $768m.

The pension fund plans to complete the deal by May after being selected as a preferred bidder for the building, located at the central Potsdamer Platz and initially built to serve as Sony’s European headquarters, the agency said in a statement yesterday.

National Pension Service, which had 289 trillion won in assets as of March, is looking at overseas stocks and real- estate investments from Sydney to London as part of a long-term policy to diversify away from domestic fixed-income holdings.
