Lambeth Council is looking for a partner to develop three sites in Clapham, south London

The project, entitled Future Clapham, offers the potential for up to 199,134 sq ft (18,500 sq m) of mixed-use development, including the provision of a new or refurbished leisure centre of around 53,820 sq ft (5,000 sq m).

The sites are on either side of Clapham High Street and close to Clapham Common.

The centrepiece of the project is likely to be the redevelopment of Mary Seacole House, an eight-storey 1960s office building with a multi-storey car park and ancillary buildings to the rear. An approved planning brief supports redevelopment for a predominantly residential scheme.

The scheme also features the existing Clapham leisure centre and Clapham library.

A shortlist of three to five will be selected in the spring with a view to finalising terms with the preferred partner in the autumn.

Planning permission will need to be obtained during 2008, and the development is expected to be completed around 2010.
