Just under half of the land in England and Wales is unregistered, according to the latest research from the Land Registry.

The research, which was released this morning suggests that 40% of land in England in Wales is yet to be registered.

While the figure marks a 15% increase in three years, the Land Registry used its findings to urge chartered surveyors and land agents to ensure the land of their clients is registered.

It is also poised to launch a campaign highlighting financial incentives for those registering their land voluntarily. Those who do so will be eligible for a 25% discount on the normal fee.
