Moving the law lords to a new building across Parliament Square will cost a 'staggering £100m' in set-up costs, the Tories said yesterday. Daily Telegraph

Oliver Heald, the Tory constitutional affairs spokesman, was commenting on cost estimates for the Supreme Court released by the lord chancellor. The new building will also require an extra £6m a year in running costs.

The court, which will replace the House of Lords as the final court of appeal, is to open in 2009.
