Leeds Metropolitan University and Yorkshire County Cricket Club have received the green light from planners for the development of a pavilion at Headingly Carnegie Cricket Ground in Leeds.

The 43,056 sq ft Alsop-designed development, received a resolution to grant planning consent today.

The development will include both media and sports facilities.

It will also provide teaching space for the university.

Plans for the development were worked up over an 18 month period.

Building is expected to start in November and complete in 2010.
