Legal & General said it would try to keep redundancies to a minimum as it enters consultations with staff and the Unite union over 560 more job cuts among full-time and contract staff.
The savings and pensions company cut about 10% of its workforce last year, and warned at its full-year results in March that it would be likely to shed another few hundred jobs during 2009.
