The Lend Lease led consortium behind the development of the Olympic village today launched a search for architects for the proposed Athletes village for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Lend Lease, and partners First Base and East Thames, with the Architecture Foundation are calling for architects to design the £2bn scheme involving the development of around 4,200 residential dwellings in Stratford, East London.
Lend Lease and its partners were selected by London & Continental Railways and the Olympic Delivery Authority as preferred development partner for zones 2-7 of Stratford City scheme in March.
Nigel Hugill, Lend Lease Europe chairman, said: ‘Our aim is to create an exemplar development which is recognised worldwide as demonstrating best practice in urban design and sustainability, and which delivers a new legacy district after 2012.’
The Architecture Foundation will oversee the appointment of the panel, which is expected to comprise around 40 practices which will then be narrowed down.
The deadline for entering is 28th June.
