Lendlease has been chosen as Birmingham City Council’s preferred development partner for the £1.5bn Birmingham Smithfield development.

The developer beat off competition from a Delancey-led consortium to secure the mandate, which was first launched in summer 2017.

The plans for the 42-acre former wholesale market site comprise more than 2,000 homes as well as a new home for the city’s Bull Ring markets, leisure and cultural facilities and a new public square and park.
