Lambert Smith Hampton chief executive Mark Rigby today joined the board of London Wasps after the rugby club was taken over by Steve Hayes.

Rigby, a former captain on Wasps in the days before rugby went professional in 1995, is on a new-look board alongside another former captain Lawrence Dallaglio.

Hayes, who made an estimated £50m from the sale of his company Loans.co.uk, has bought out Chrysalis founder Chris Wright and chairman John O’Connell.

It allows Hayes, who is managing director of League Two football leaders Wycombe, the co-tenants at Adams Park, to assume total control of future planning, including a new 20,000-seat stadium.
