A consortium led by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) has announced the development of South Essex’s largest riverside regeneration scheme.

Fiddlers Reach, a 25-acre former cement works on the banks of the Thames at Thurrock, will be developed into 1,200 new homes.

The scheme will also deliver public spaces with improved access to riverside walks, commercial space and cafes, restaurants and bars.

Family Mosaic Housing Association and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation are joining the EEDA on the regeneration project.

The scheme will be launched for public consultation at the Thames Gateway Forum 2007 on the 28th and 29th November.

This will be followed by two months of public consultation.

Affordable housing and sustainable regeneration consultancy Avebury International is project managing the scheme.
