Manchester City Council has confirmed it has chosen Allied London’s Spinningfields for its temporary office relocation.

Spinningfields beat competition from Ask’s First Street and Argent’s Piccadilly Place to accommodate the 150,000 sq ft requirement, as revealed by Property Week last month.

A report prepared for a meeting of the council’s executive next week said: ‘The preferred location is Spinningfields. The proposal submitted by Allied London provides modern, efficient office space and space for a Customer Service Centre and the crèche, close to the main offices.’

The council is temporarily relocating its staff while it refurbishes the town hall complex which will include a new covered walkway with commercial uses between the complex and the library, as well as refurbished offices and more open spaces.

The council is expecting to move from its current offices in March 2010 and will return to the refurbished offices on 2013 or 2014.
