Each will have up to 200 rooms and there will be up to 100 in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Marriott and the Schrager Company aim to have five deals signed by the end of the year and the remainder built or under development within 10 years.

Schrager, who is credited with creating the boutique hotel concept with late business partner Steve Rubell, will design and brand the hotels and be responsible for the food side. Marriott will oversee the development process and operate the hotels.
